AMAZING GRACE // CATALOG DESIGN
‘Amazing Grace’ is a catalog design that explores racial
injustice and police brutality within the U.S. This topic is
examined through an interview between Terry gross and
Ta-nehisi coates and an essay by rapper Chuck Donald.
This interview took place on Terry Gross’s Fresh Air radio
show Monday July 31rst, 2013. In the wake of the Philando
Castile shooting that took place in Minneapolis on July 6th,
2016, almost exactly three years following this interview.
My objective was to create a typographically dense and
effective piece that depicts a powerful and controversial topic
through its intoxicating imagery and distict layout. The catalog
is dedicated to all black mothers who have lost their children
to police violence.
